Spatialize Geosurvey is a professional field-surveying app. Each permission below maps to a feature you can see in the UI. Permissions marked core are required for the app's primary purpose; permissions marked optional are only used when you opt in to specific features.
The app's primary purpose is recording accurate GPS coordinates for survey points, lines, polygons, landmarks, and geofences. Without precise location the app cannot fulfill its core function. Location is collected only while you are actively using a surveying feature (placing points, recording a track, or navigating to a landmark) and is stored on your device only.
Background location is essential for continuous GPS track recording during long surveys — typically walking the perimeter of a parcel, riverbank, or monitoring boundary over 30 minutes to several hours. While tracking is active the app shows a persistent notification so you always know when the GPS is recording. Background tracking stops immediately when you tap "Stop Track" or end the session.
The app does not use background location for advertising, analytics, or any purpose unrelated to your active surveying session.
Used to center the map quickly on first launch, before a precise GPS fix is available. Once precise GPS is acquired, the app switches to fine location for all surveying operations.
Lets you capture geotagged photos and videos of survey sites, landmarks, and environmental features. Media files are attached to specific survey coordinates and included in your project exports. The camera is accessed only when you explicitly tap the camera button.
Records audio with your survey videos when you capture video features. Only used while video recording is active.
Lets you pick existing photos from your gallery to attach to a survey feature, and save the photos and videos you capture during surveys to your device library when you export them.
Android requires apps that use background location to run a "foreground service" with a persistent visible notification. This is the notification you see while tracking is active. The notifications permission is requested only so this status notification can be shown. We do not use notifications for marketing or push promotions.
Keeps the GPS service running while the screen is off, so a survey track does not get interrupted when you put the phone in your pocket during fieldwork. Active only while a track session is running.
Asks Android to exclude the app from Doze mode while tracking is active, so the GPS does not get suppressed during long sessions. You can deny this and the app still works — track accuracy may degrade on some Android devices during very long sessions.
Required by the Google Play Billing system that processes the Pro subscription. We do not see your payment details or Google account — Play only tells us whether you have an active subscription.
The app uses the internet only for map tiles (OpenStreetMap) and subscription verification (Google Play / Apple App Store). All survey data is stored on your device and never sent to a server we operate.
