Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 4, 2026
Spatialize Systems ("we", "us", or "our") operates the Spatialize Geosurvey mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the App.
By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use the App.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Location Data
- Precise Location (GPS): With your permission, the App collects real-time GPS coordinates to record survey tracks, place landmarks, and monitor geofences. This includes background location when a survey session is actively running.
- Purpose: Core surveying functionality — track recording, coordinate capture, distance measurement, and geofence alerts.
- Storage: Location data is stored locally on your device in a SQLite database. It is not transmitted to our servers unless you explicitly export or share it.
1.2 Photos and Videos
- Camera Access: With your permission, the App accesses your device camera to capture geotagged photos and videos for site documentation.
- Media Library: The App does not read your device photo gallery or media library. Files you import (basemaps, layers, survey archives) are chosen one at a time through the system file picker.
- Storage: Captured media is stored locally on your device. You control when and how to export or share it.
1.3 Device Information
- Device Identifiers: The App does not collect or transmit any device identifier (no IMEI, advertising ID, hardware serial, or device fingerprint). Subscription state is tied to your Google account by Google Play, not to your device by us.
- IP Address: We do not operate a server that logs your IP address. Network requests for map tiles (OpenStreetMap) and in-app purchase verification (Google Play) reveal your IP to those third parties under their own terms — we do not see or store it.
- Operating System Version: Not collected by the App. The platform store may use OS version for compatibility filtering, which is outside our control.
1.4 Survey Data
- Project Data: All survey projects, features, attributes, and measurements you create are stored locally on your device.
- Export Formats: You may export data to GPX, GeoPackage, Shapefile, or CSV formats. Exported files are saved to your device's storage under your control.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To provide and maintain core surveying functionality (GPS tracking, mapping, data collection).
- To validate your software license and prevent unauthorized use.
- To detect and prevent fraud, piracy, and security incidents.
- To improve app performance and fix technical issues.
3. Data Storage and Security
- Local-First Architecture: The App is designed to work offline. Your survey data, location history, and media are stored primarily on your device.
- Encryption: Sensitive data such as license keys are stored using platform-native secure storage (Android Keystore).
- Network Transmission: When network communication occurs (map tile loading, in-app purchase verification), data is transmitted over HTTPS/TLS encrypted connections.
4. Third-Party Services
- Reverse Geocoding (optional, off by default): If you turn on the "Include Location" address line for photo watermarks, the App asks your device's map provider (Google) to convert that photo's GPS coordinates into a street address. This sends the single photo's coordinates to that provider under their respective terms. It is disabled unless you enable it, and only that one point's coordinates are sent — never your full track.
- OpenStreetMap: The App loads map tiles from openstreetmap.org. Tile requests include your IP address and the geographic area you are currently viewing. We do not control OpenStreetMap and do not send any personal identifier along with these requests.
- Google Play Billing: Subscription purchases (in-app purchases) are processed entirely by Google Play. We do not see your payment card or Google account details; we only receive a subscription-active token from Google. See Google Privacy Policy.
5. Data Retention
- Device Data: Retained on your device until you delete the App or manually delete projects. We do not store copies of your survey data on any server.
- Subscription Data: Managed entirely by Google Play and subject to Google's data retention policies. We do not run our own subscription database.
6. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Request correction or deletion of your data.
- Withdraw consent for location tracking (you can disable this in your device settings, though it will limit App functionality).
- Request a copy of your data in a portable format.
To exercise these rights, contact us using the information below.
7. Children's Privacy
The App is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you become aware that a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete such information.
8. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. You are advised to review this policy periodically for any changes.
9. International Data Transfers
We do not operate our own servers that process user data. Any data sharing with Google Play for subscription processing is governed by Google's privacy policy and may involve cross-border transfers under those operators' terms. Map tile requests to OpenStreetMap are routed to that service's globally distributed infrastructure.
