Settings Reference

Every setting, in the order it appears. Defaults are what a fresh install uses.

Appearance

Message DurationHow long the app’s brief messages stay on screen.

GPS Settings

SettingWhat it does
Tracking ModeHigh Precision (best accuracy, highest battery use), Balanced (recommended), Battery Saver. Applied to the position stream immediately.
Minimum Accuracy for Data CapturePhotos, videos and features are recorded only when the GPS error is within this distance. Default 5 m. Lower values demand a better signal; the map’s accuracy indicator turns green when capture is allowed.
Maximum Photo/Video Grouping DistancePhotos and videos taken within this distance of one another are shown as a single group on the map. Default 25 m.

Coordinates

SettingWhat it does
Coordinate FormatDecimal degrees, degrees-minutes-seconds, or UTM, wherever a coordinate is displayed or copied.
Coordinate OrderLatitude-longitude or longitude-latitude, for formats where it applies.
Include AltitudeAppend the altitude to displayed coordinates; a separate switch controls altitude when copying coordinates.
Unit SystemMetric or imperial for distances, areas and accuracy.

Drawing Colors

Point symbol, line, polygon, GPS track, photo marker and video marker colours. They drive the map, the toolbars, the editors and the exported QGIS styles alike.

Map Settings

SettingWhat it does
Default Map ZoomZoom level when the map opens.
Default BasemapWhich basemap the map starts with.
Multiple shots per captureOff (default): one photo or video, then straight back to the map. On: the camera stays open after each save so you can add more angles, with a chip counting what is saved; tap Back to return to the map.
Side Tools PositionLeft or right edge for the map tools drawer (portrait) and the zoom buttons (landscape). The destination distance pill sits on the opposite side.

Storage & Cache

SettingWhat it does
TrashDeleted items kept for 30 days; restore or delete forever.
Map CacheSize of cached online map tiles, with Clear. Tiles are re-downloaded as needed.

Photo & Video

SettingWhat it does
Photo Resolution / Photo QualityCapture size and JPEG quality; lower values save storage.
Embed GPS location in photosWrite the position into the photo file’s EXIF as well as the database.
Record audio with videoOff records silent video; no microphone permission needed.

Camera Settings

SettingWhat it does
Grid OverlayNone, rule of thirds, or crosshair in the viewfinder.
Self-timerDelay before the shutter.
Video ResolutionRecording resolution; lower values save storage.
Orientation LockKeep the camera in one orientation.

Photo Watermark

Stamp each photo with the survey name, timestamp, coordinates and an optional logo. Format, position, text colour and which components appear are set on the Watermark screen; the original photo is kept alongside the watermarked one.

Forms tab

The second tab of Settings is the Forms designer: create and edit survey forms, preview them, and on Active Forms assign one form to each asset type — points, lines, polygons, photos, videos. Assignment happens only there; every form can be assigned to any type. See Survey Forms.
