Settings Reference
Every setting, in the order it appears. Defaults are what a fresh install uses.
Appearance
| Setting | What it does |
| Message Duration | How long the app’s brief messages stay on screen. |
GPS Settings
| Setting | What it does |
| Tracking Mode | High Precision (best accuracy, highest battery use), Balanced (recommended), Battery Saver. Applied to the position stream immediately. |
| Minimum Accuracy for Data Capture | Photos, videos and features are recorded only when the GPS error is within this distance. Default 5 m. Lower values demand a better signal; the map’s accuracy indicator turns green when capture is allowed. |
| Maximum Photo/Video Grouping Distance | Photos and videos taken within this distance of one another are shown as a single group on the map. Default 25 m. |
Coordinates
| Setting | What it does |
| Coordinate Format | Decimal degrees, degrees-minutes-seconds, or UTM, wherever a coordinate is displayed or copied. |
| Coordinate Order | Latitude-longitude or longitude-latitude, for formats where it applies. |
| Include Altitude | Append the altitude to displayed coordinates; a separate switch controls altitude when copying coordinates. |
| Unit System | Metric or imperial for distances, areas and accuracy. |
Drawing Colors
Point symbol, line, polygon, GPS track, photo marker and video marker colours. They drive the map, the toolbars, the editors and the exported QGIS styles alike.
Map Settings
| Setting | What it does |
| Default Map Zoom | Zoom level when the map opens. |
| Default Basemap | Which basemap the map starts with. |
| Multiple shots per capture | Off (default): one photo or video, then straight back to the map. On: the camera stays open after each save so you can add more angles, with a chip counting what is saved; tap Back to return to the map. |
| Side Tools Position | Left or right edge for the map tools drawer (portrait) and the zoom buttons (landscape). The destination distance pill sits on the opposite side. |
Storage & Cache
| Setting | What it does |
| Trash | Deleted items kept for 30 days; restore or delete forever. |
| Map Cache | Size of cached online map tiles, with Clear. Tiles are re-downloaded as needed. |
Photo & Video
| Setting | What it does |
| Photo Resolution / Photo Quality | Capture size and JPEG quality; lower values save storage. |
| Embed GPS location in photos | Write the position into the photo file’s EXIF as well as the database. |
| Record audio with video | Off records silent video; no microphone permission needed. |
Camera Settings
| Setting | What it does |
| Grid Overlay | None, rule of thirds, or crosshair in the viewfinder. |
| Self-timer | Delay before the shutter. |
| Video Resolution | Recording resolution; lower values save storage. |
| Orientation Lock | Keep the camera in one orientation. |
Photo Watermark
Stamp each photo with the survey name, timestamp, coordinates and an optional logo. Format, position, text colour and which components appear are set on the Watermark screen; the original photo is kept alongside the watermarked one.

Forms tab
The second tab of Settings is the Forms designer: create and edit survey forms, preview them, and on Active Forms assign one form to each asset type — points, lines, polygons, photos, videos. Assignment happens only there; every form can be assigned to any type. See Survey Forms.
